Meet the Prince, Descendent of Queen Margherita, after Whom the Pizza Is Named!
Did you know that, in 1889, a chef in Naples by the name of Raffaele Esposito wanted to honor the Queen of Italy, so he created a pizza with the three colors of the Italian flag?
The Queen of Italy was Magherita di Savoia, great-great grandmother of Italy’s Crown Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, who will be host of Uomo Moderno magazine in Janauary 2016!
So that’s how the name Pizza Margherita came into existence, with tomato, mozzarella, and basil!
Why not come out and celebrate Italy’s wonderful history at A Royal Evening with the Crowned Prince & Carnival Ball on January 22, 2016. RSVP here.
