Rocca d’Angera, Lake Maggiore

Art, Nature and Rarity In The Enchanting Rocca d’Angera

The majestic Rocca d’Angera is an interesting medieval castle built by the Visconti family. It’s located in a strategic location between the lake and the land.

In 1449 the fort was bought by the Borromeo family and to this day remains in their ownership.

There keep old farming tools and an ancient stone sarcophagus in the yard.

The rooms are arranged in two sections: in the first one we can visit the ancient painted halls and a beautiful Chinese ceramics collection. From the big windows, we can have a glance at a magnificent view of the lake and the mountains that we can see better from the tower top.

In other rooms, we can visit the biggest “Doll’s and Toy Museum” (Museo della bambola e del giocattolo) in Europe that exhibits hundreds of dolls and toys from all over the world.

A plunge into the past to understand the evolution of styles, customs and traditions of children’s toys throughout the years.

We can also see promotional toys, special editions of the Barbie, and the first mechanical dolls in this spectacular museum.

The setting is the beautiful medieval garden, rebuilt following ancient and renaissance books.

We find a rich collection of flowers and plants, where the sound of a fountain is cherished in the visitors’ minds.

It’s a progressive work of attention and care by competent garden designers.

We can have a drink or a coffee sitting outside the bar, enjoying the garden and the lake, after our visit.

All people who love tourism, art, and nature have to visit this fascinating and fairytale place in Italy.
